Preparation on Exteriors

STEP 1 CLEANING: All paint-able exterior surfaces are Power Washed to remove all loose surface dirt, dust, and flakes.

STEP 2 SCRAPING/WIRE BRUSHING: Depending on the surface texture of your siding, we will scrape or wire brush down to tight edges that are suitable for priming.

STEP 3 WOOD REPLACEMENT: IF ROTTEN WOOD IS DISCOVERED
BEFORE WE START the owner may subcontract out for repairs or do it himself. If we discover a few pieces of rotten wood in the course of the paint job preparation in most cases we will replace it as we go if the owner agrees to cover our additional costs incurred.

STEP 4 PRIMING: (New wood and exposed old wood require an oil base primer for best adhesion.)

SPOT PRIMING: Used as needed when the old paint surface is considered to be the prime coat.

FIRST COAT PRIMING: Recommended and considered standard procedure to prepare entire house for painting.

LINTEL PRIMING: Metal lintels will be primed with rust inhibitor primer.

STEP 5 POPPED NAIL HEADS: Nails that used to be flush or countersunk will be returned to their original state.

STEP 6 CAULKING: Windows, Entry Ways, and Siding-Trim intersections will be caulked with 35yr. rated caulk. Countersunk nail holes will be filled with putty.

STEP 7 PAINTING: Finish Painting commences when the prep work is completed.ONE TOP COAT of exterior grade house paint will be applied.

Front Door Options

OPTION 1: Tone-up (one coat of varnish) no repair work to old finish

OPTION 2: Minor spot or trim restore + varnish whole door (done on-site, one day)

OPTION 3: Major Finish Restoration, (as good as it gets without starting over with new wood). Door is temporarily removed. Total chemical strip, sand, stain, seal, sand, full varnish. (Takes 1-2 days). On any door job we will install new or old hardware you supply at no extra charge.
